S24/7 -Your first EP was lauded for its experimentation - how does your new material compare?
it's more experimental and more poppy accesible. production is way better.
S24/7 -Do you write collaboratively?
yes. more than half our stuff comes from jams that we record and we go back and arrange it and add ingredients.
S24/7 -Where have you got the best crowd reaction playing in Shanghai?
Our friends came to see our very first two shows at Harley Bar in 2009 as a polite gesture. They went nuts because we spiked their beers with aderol.
S24/7 -Tell us about your favourite bands in Shanghai right now - who should we be looking out for this Rabbit Year?
X is Y, Naohai, The Dudettes, Rainbow Danger Club
S24/7 -What do you love and loath about the music scene in Shanghai?
I loathe nothing and love everything. I do wish there was more chinese/laowai interaction. That needs to be on every band's to-do list.
S24/7 -What was the last record you bought, and one of the first?
Bought? you mean bittorrented? Battle Studies by John Mayer. Fuck the haters.
First CD i ever bought was Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson. First tape was You EEEdiot by Ren and Stimpy. Both are still great.
S24/7 -Tell us something most people don't know about RDC?
Our trumpet player Michael Corayer is also an extremely talented jazz singer and performs "REAL" gigs. He's essentially the White/Shanghai Louis Armstrong
S24/7 -You were holding a competition through neocha looking for a design for the cover of your new album - how did that go?
Awesome. You'll see on March 18th.
S24/7 -To what extent do you take an interest in the local art scene? Any artists or art spaces you'd like to give a shout to?
I'm a huge fan of Maleonn (马良). Incredible dioramas, photographs, and models drenched in dark fantasy. Also, My friend Ivan Belcic is a t-shirt designer/graffiti artist and he drew the steampunk-ish firefly on our website.
S24/7 -Plug your album and launch party?
LIVE BAR. Friday, March 18th. 40RMB gets you 3 or 4 bands (so far Pairs and Friend or Foe have confirmed) and a CD with decent music and artwork.
S24/7 -Why should people be sure not to miss your show this Saturday(it's passed!)?
It's free, so don't complain about the expensive taxi ride. Live Bar is a great venue. We will have special guests onstage with new songs and some revamped old songs.
