Due to an unsupressable desire to "feel the new world power", Aussie noise boys School Girl Report are on tour throughout China (thanks to Josh at Pangbianr) with fellow Melbourne band xNoBBQx, who also run influential labels, Pulled Out and Breakdance the Dawn. For their Shanghai show they are joined by Next Year's Love and Wanderlust - an eclectic night of music is assured.
Here is what School Girl Report had to say to that there Xiao Zhong:
You're screening a movie when you play, yeah? Can you throw some more info here like, what it's about, are you planning to show it at every show and how real sick cunts who can't make it to your show can get a copy?
Blonde Fog - is a film documenting the most innovative sounds and ideas coming out of the current Australian music underground. It features interviews with the people behind Radio Valerie, Negative Guestlist and This Thing Collective and a bunch of live footage and video clips from uncomfortable beat producers, new instrument builders, tape manipulators, glass biters, two second song writers, piano grincorests and tropical punks.
It won't be for sale, but I can leave a copy on your hard drive if you like.
What bands are you currently digging from Australia? How is the 'scene' there at the moment?
Sky needle- mattress pump/dustpan grooves
Bum creek- I know your mums had a hard week.
Galapagoose- live Foot-drag beats
Circular keys- Burial/Madonna's rain
Satanic Rockers- doom guitar, skipity drums, NZ rapping
Australian music scene is pumping. The shows are becoming increasingly mixed and the bands are getting more interesting. It is not out of question to have a future soul producer, renovation rock band, a new primitive and a loft-pop act on the same bill.
What would you say to any bands here who are interested in touring Australia?
Contact me or SINO music exchange!
How did XxNoBBQxX get involved? Are you guys super tight with them?
We just really liked the look of their picture disc with xnobbqx written in sausages on a round BBQ. We got very close after some young pill heads beat them up and wouldn't let them play at a show in our home town Batemans Bay.

Have you done much research on China/travel tips/music scene/tea ceremony scams in preparation?
FM3 were the wildest thing I saw at SXSW in 2008. We want to go to the IPad factories and play in ping pong tournaments.
Have you guys been saving hard for this trip? I assume you guys work some kind of jobs. What do you guys do for a crust?
Gas bottle cleaning, Bin run managing, power board collecting, Phone book delivering, fad designing, floating golf ball grabbing, scrap metal placement and penning for a magazine about female drummers.
School Girl Report and xNoBBQx will be playing at Yuyintang this Sunday, July 8th. Click here for details.
