One of the most notable and exciting acts to come out of Shanghai, AM444, are to release a spilt 12'' vinyl EP, 'Spilt Ends', with San Francisco electro rock band Tussle this Saturday at Yuyintang. Rather than the obligatory free CD, each person will receive a copy of the vinyl - let's hope most of them manage to find a turntable (what about here?) to spin on!
Tussle's contributions to the record come in shape of two tracks - ‘Eye Context', which will appear on their full-length album ‘Tempest,’ set for release in September, along with ‘Croata’, which is unreleased. These guys are a big deal, and with releases in double figures spanning nearly ten years, what they do gets noticed.
The first new AM444 tracks to emerge since last year's 'Eye Wonder' EP feature on this record; '静谧的湖泊' ('Jingmide Hupo') and 'Lies'. Speaking of his and Cha Cha's new material, Jay.Soul says: "We have six brand new tracks so far, most of which we've also been playing live last few months; there are others I'm still working on that have yet to be finally arranged and mixed".
"We're aiming to release our second CD in October at Shelter, and we'll also be playing the JZ Festival then. I'm moving back to Amsterdam soon, but we'll continue to write new songs together and keep AM444 going!".
