Zangnan recordings is back with a new free indie show. This time we are heading to HongKouQu's Live 696. We brought together 5 of the most raw and dirty Shanghai acts for an evening ranging from anti-folk to punk and pure noise. Come check out the most uncompromising bands in Shanghai, starting from 8.30pm.
The bands:
X is Y is a two-piece rock act that offers the confounding but variously cathartic rhythms and sonic structures of math rock delivered with an agenda to self-evisceration and public sacrifice. They're releasing their new EP on the 18th of May at YYT. Check out the song "Shoulder" on their douban.
Torturing Nurse is the probably the most extreme band you'll ever see. Their harsh noise is internationally renowned. Pushing the limits since 2004, they're putting on wild and unpredictable shows.
After fronting "Boys Climbing Ropes" for 6 years, Little Punk is presenting us her lo-fi and raw folk song writing. Little Punk is a witness of another scale and a disarmingly honest performer. She'll be supported by Jordan or BCR on guitar.
Battle Cattle was one of the most spoken of Shanghai band last year thanks to their awesome record "Kenny's Not Dead". Recording in 1 week in Beijing by PK14's lead singer, Yang Haisong. The result is raw and classy.
Stalin Gardens is the hippest new band of the moment. DNA-like drumming, offensive guitars, surreal and absurd French spoken words, crowd starring and a totally laid back attitude. They took everybody by surprise at Duck Fight Goose's CD release party.
