From suburban Melbourne, Australia, come The Backyard Surgeons. Since 2007 the band has been a mainstay in Australian independent rock, constantly performing, touring, and improving.
With the honour of playing shows with punk rock legends such as NOFX, Bad Religion, Strung Out, No Use For A Name, Teenage Bottlerocket and Frenzal Rhomb, The Backyard Surgeons have established themselves at the forefront of the Australian punk rock scene. It’s been a hell of a ride so far.
2009 saw the 5-piece release their debut EP “Totally Numb” to critical acclaim and the completion of their first national tour. In true DIY fashion, Backyard Surgeons booked an 18 date tour of China and South East Asia and took their live show to a new level. It was a steep learning curve and a crazy time for the guys and it was all captured on film by filmmaker Qiao Li.
The band will take things to the next level in 2012 with the long awaited release of their debut full length record “Destined for Dissent” through Australian labels Your Daughters Records and Broken Bones Music. After five years of relentless dedication, the debut album is reward for effort, the culmination of years of hard work. The reward will be a second tour of China, the release of the tour documentary “No Anaesthetic” and performances at China’s biggest rock festival, Midi, as well as Chengdu’s renowned Zebra Festival.
