Jurassic 4-piece Stegosaurus? are releasing not one but two albums this summer in a lavish feast of rock fit for a hungry hungry dinosaur. The appetizer, if you will, is now available online, a tasty selection of B-Sides entitled Our Songs B-Side you. Stegosaurus? will be holding a Download Party at 696 Livehouse this Saturday as they release these tracks into the interweb, much like a mother pterodactyl watching her scaly babies fly the nest into the big bad dinosaur world.
By the time you've heard these tracks you might just be ready for Purple Pachyderm, the main course which will be served up to your ears at Yuyintang in August.
We asked Stegosaurus to explain themselves. Here's a track by track breakdown of the album.
Stalker song. Hospitable stalkers are cool, yeah. But only if they're hot. Not an ugly, hospitable stalker. Wait. What about an inhospitable, ugly stalker? Man. Dude...
Here, I was trying to make a song more monotonous than "We Will Rock You" by Queen. I don't think we succeeded. Anyways, the robots are coming....
3. Indiana Jones
A long long time ago, in a country far far away, Josh and his family were in a car. Josh's brother, Phil (whom also drums for several of our recorded tracks this time around), started randomly singing these words. From it, Levi, and the rest of Stegosaurus? fleshed out those words with music. No deep meaning here.
My cat's hair is very fashionable. Surf rockish rock at it's worst. We hope Toshi will finally invite us to play with the Trash-a-gogo crew...oh wait...too late...
5. The Sappy Hick
These lyrics might be familiar to listeners of our first CD. Here is a reworking of The Sappy Song in good ol' hick style. This is the way it was meant to be played. Hick on!
6. Reptile Dysfunction
The multi musically talented Levi on drums here. This is an old one Josh brought from back in the day in America, when Josh, Levi and others were playing in their first band, Hanson. You remember them. They're the three kids who looked like girls. One was hot. Anyway, no words to pick up on this one. Just some star treky (the Kirk one) "aahhhhhs" floating around here and there.
7. Chicken Fight Turkey
The hicks have returned. They've run out of ducks and geese. Now the battle is between their livestock. Who will be the victor? Listen to find out. Or maybe you won't find out.
Who doesn't like pirates? Actually, probably a lot of people. Who has never dreamed of walking a plank or swabbing a deck or going hunting for buried booty? Actually, probably a lot of people too. Well poo, here's a pirate anthem song complete with a party at the end and a familiar laugh to top off the B-sides.
We hope you've had fun listening. Now spread the word if you enjoyed. If you didn't enjoy it, well then send the links to people and tell them, "Hey, you gotta not hear this. It's garbage! *wink wink*"
